Fresno Makes The Cover Of Rolling Stone?
Yes yes, okay, so it's not our Fresno. It's the awesomely named Brazilian band, Fresno. But it still looks cool on the cover and stuff.
If you speak Portuguese (who doesn't!?) the following video, cut from the above photo shoot, may be of some interest. Still holding out hope that Fresno will come to Fresno someday.
Just Checking In: “Fresno” Disrespecting Axl Rose
It's been a while since we caught up with the Brazilian rockers with the most awesomest name in music: Fresno. In case you don't know them, they are the alt/power-pop rockers that were the biggest band in Brazil for 2009. Seems the name Fresno is being pretty world class for them.
We still hope and pray to all-that-would-be-funny-as-hell that "Fresno" comes to play Fresno someday. Any local promoters wanna take a stab at bringing them here? It would totally be sweet (even if they don't have fans here), we would all have to go on principle (and name) alone.
In the meantime we'll just watch them mangle a Guns N' Roses epic:
HA! Did you hear that, Axl, you dick? Fresno totally knows like only one line from your incredibly too long epic song, November Rain. "Sometimes you needs sometimes….everybody needs some times… everybody needs some…on your owwwn."
Wanna kick ass, Axl? Wanna get in the ring? Do you know that you can love me when there's no one else to blame? (Are these vague Axl Rose lyric references doing anything for anybody? No? Alright, we'll stop.)
Vote For Fresno… No, The OTHER Fresno
So you know about the Brazilian band named Fresno, right? Well, apparently they are up for a Brazilian music award and they did a video blog (vlog) trying to persuade fans to vote for them. At least I think that's what they are talking about. All I know is there is a bunch of yelling and the word Fresno pops up… and they're in the crapper. It's simply awesome:
Monday Hangover: Still Searching For One
Not much local bloggy happens over a holiday weekend. So when there isn’t much to blog about, ya gotta start digging. Searching. And when you search Fresno, our little city isn’t the only Fresno that comes up. No, I’m not talking about Fresno, Texas. I’m talking about the Brazilian band named “Fresno.”
Fresno has been cluttering up my Fresno searches forever and I’ve always ignored the band. But a slow blog day means it’s time to give in and find out more about these indie rock dudes.
They started out in 2001 with an EP called O Acaso do Erro. Currently there are four members: Lucas, Gustavo, Rodrigo and umm…Rodrigo. They’ve made four studio albums, the latest being Rendencao. And the band has had three songs reach the Hot100Brazil.
The big question is: has Fresno ever been to Fresno? I don’t think so because they may speak Portuguese so maybe they don’t tour the states much. I don’t really know actually. Could somebody search the answer for me?
