FULTON 55: Yes his dad can play guitar but Salvador Santana can score with younger women "TAKE THAT, PAPI!" If that isn't enough, THE Patrick Contreras is playing along with Santana tribute band (see what they did there?), Heavy Weather. Definately the show of the night:
THAI PALMS: The only consistent show North of Shaw is Homerown Fridays. This week it's Jayson Brooks, Screaming Me Me and From The Fallen:
CYC: Frequent Fresno flyers, Maya Over Eyes (San Jose) with Denver's Forty Fathoms and Wyoming's The History Of Hope. Plus locals like We Sunk The Mayflower:

BANDGEEK!: What Does Let’s Go Bowling, The Soma Holidays and Bang Tango Have In Common?

FRIDAY
FULTON 55: It's not often that one of Fresno's top bands of all time, Let's Go Bowling, plays so this one moves from a show to a EVENT:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: If you like the Fay Wrays, then you probably like (or will like) The Soma Holidays. That's 'cause The Soma Holidays are kinda the Fay Wray's grandad… or something. It's a big reunion show for the Holidays (we told ya about this, complete with free mp3 downloads) because it's been seven years since they've played together. Keeping the stage warm for them is Achievement House, The Red Coats and straight from Portland (via Fresno and Nashville) is Kat Jones. Good times. [$8, 9pm, 21+]
BABYLON: Diehardz Music presents The Accident Experiment (with Marcos Curiel from P.O.D) Also doing stuff is Down Word, Outside the Wire, Clockwork Hero (Stockton), Kinship, and S.K.O.P.E:
KUPPAJOE: Sacramento alt rock guy, Josiah James. Plus Quiet Science (Merritt Island, FL), Omotola and My Beautiful Surrender. How terribly awesome is this flier?:
THE CYC: The promoter wisely put an early start time for this one as there are a dump load of bands playing: Brotherhood, Limits, Phoenix Emerge, Head Over Heals, Fatty Cakes, Dependence and Lover Boy:
THAI PALMS: Homegrown Fridays returns with a familiar face: This Planet Prelude. Plus I Do Not Exist and No Cause For Alarm:
STARLINE: It was the late 80s (or maybe early 90s) and Bang Tango was a band. That played. Music and stuff. Well God bless them they're still doing it, and frankly…Why the hell not!? Locally supported by Six Day Truce, Hammerdown Sindrum and Tipsy Gipsy:
Music In Fresno Tonight: Jazz Hop Is Taking Over The World and The CYC Gets Bent
@ The CYC, Touring hardcore bands Bent Life, The Beautiful Ones, Ill Intent and Fresno's Farooq.
We're not forgetting Jazz Hop, gets bigger every month. If this keeps up, anybody with a garage or a good sized living room in the Downtown or Tower area might get used for Jazz Hop venue. It's especially exciting to see B-Rawcity playing Audie's (not exactly jazz but damn fine Fresno hip-hop). Click the flier and take it all in:
BANDGEEK!: The Bel-Tower Needs Help and The Mallard Migrates Back To Fresno
In case you didn't see this over on Fresno Famous or on Facebook this week; local DIY venue, The Bel-Tower, has had a bad few days. Obviously the most tragic is the death of local promoter, musician and Bel-Tower volunteer, Ariel Gieseman. She was killed in a fog related accident near Hanford. Our hearts go out to her friends and family.
Also, The Bel-Tower needs to get some expensive code-related repairs done soon and are never rolling in cash given the nature of this kind of place. They're asking for some donation help in order to keep things running, hopefully we can all help out soon.
Alright, let's change the mood here and start looking forward to some shows this weekend. Let's BANDGEEK!!
FRIDAY
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Big one right here. Sorta Fresno band, The Mallard, comes to town. As you can learn from Fresno Famous, Fresno natives Greer McGrettrick and Dylan Tidyman-Jones lead this now Bay Area band. They'll be partying for their EP release and stopping by to do stuff with them is Aussie band, Woollen Kits, and Portland band The Woolen Men. Fresno's Quiet Americans will be playing and rethinking why the didn't call themselves The Woolen Americans. [$5, 9pm, 21+]
KUPPAJOE'S: A big night of local hardcore type stuff with Infinite, The Day I Ate The Moon, Signals (actually they're from Tuscon), Bridges and Swimming With Tsunamis. Info:
FULTON 55: Southern California American Rock band Lukas Nelson and the Real. They've been on David Letterman and Jay Leno and soon to be from Fulton 55's stage:
FULL CIRCLE BREW: We told you about the nice folks at Food Not Bombs putting on their yearly benefit show. Just remember there's beer, food, and music from Blake Jones & The Trike Shop and the David Hull Band and an awesome flier:
THE BEL-TOWER: Fresno's Sci-Fi Caper claims this show is going to be "badical". Big claims, big. Maybe not though with this lineup, it truly is badical:
THAI PALMS: Singing and songwritting fool, Tommy Marquez. Plus Madera alt rock band All Nite Pilots and Sound Awake:
STARLINE: Kris Devold (comedian and former Fresno morning show host, now podcaster) will be MC-ing this Fresno metal show with 3 Foot Chain, Gods & Kings and Trial. [9pm, $6, 21+]
New Music Tuesday: Farooq
They just played THREE shows in Fresno over the NYE weekend, so you might have caught them: Farooq. They play a mix of hardcore and "punk rap" so their new EP "Walk It Off" might not be for everyone, but we like the shit out of it. "Let It Ride" is our favorite at the moment.
Have a listen and if you likes at all, they have it set-up as a "name your price" kinda a thing. So what the heck? Buy it:
They'll be doing some more shows this month, including one in Bakersfield and ChowChillllla, so check 'em out when ya can.
