LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT: Fresno Urban Sound Experience Festival for 2012

FUSE 2012 (september 6,7,8)

Hope you'll be in town September 6th-8th. It's going to be a fun weekend in Fresno. Fun because that's the weekend for the Fresno Urban Sound Experience. It's the 5th year for FUSE Fest and while it may be a bit bigger, the ideals are the same as year one: Showcase Fresno's diverse and talented music scene while featuring relevant venues in Downtown Fresno.

So. The big stuff. The reason there is a festival at all. Let's take a look at the lineup for Fresno Urban Sound Experience #5! Because FUSE Fest has no headliners, this is in no particular order:

That's a large helping of Fresno music. Lineup is supject to change (such is life). But it's looking damn special so far and we cant wait to see it all in Downtown Fresno, Friday and Saturday September 7th and 8th.

Make sure to start inviting all your friend's faces. Follow FUSE Fest on Twitter and check the website for the latest news.

Listen To This!: Dorks In 60 Years – Dorktown Podcast #114

DorkIn60Years

It happened once over at DI60Y: two local fowl-mouthed and swarthy podcasters coming together on one episode. You would have thought these two would've learned from that episode never to 'cross streams' again – too much shit talking for one person's ears to take.

They did not learn. In this episode of Dorktown, a majority of the DI60Y crew joins Bells, Mikey and Producer B in the Dork studio for a meta local podcast. There's talk of:

  • Bullard parties.
  • Podcast history lessons.
  • DI60Y's beginnings.
  • The crews current local video project, Who Eats Brunch.
  • How do you get free beer?
  • REMOTE: More meta podcasting with the Married Gamers.
  • Local celeb loving and bashing.
  • Will DI60Y make a Swede this time?
  • FONZY EYYS.

Everybody has regrets after this one. You should totally listen.

New Music Tuesday: Rademacher ‘Baby Hawk – Part III’

Rad 3

Rademacher's third and final installment of their "Baby Hawk" trilogy has finally arrived. Lots of special related merch is available on their Bandcamp page. A review may be forthcoming, but for now, listen, download and enjoy:

*If you haven't yet, make sure to check out Volume 1 and 2 of Babyhawk. Both are equally impressive.

New Music Tuesday: Sparklejet “The World Before Longitude”

Sparklejet

Really never thought we'd be able to use this NMT feature to put up some new music from one of Fresno's all-time rock bands, Sparklejet. Until now. Yes, we a very pleased to report Sparklejet is working on a new full-length album! Plus they have leaked a quite awesome new song (that's not even going to be on the new album) called "The World Before Longitude". Be happy and listen to it now:

New Music Tuesday!: Fay Wrays “Cars”

Fay wrays

Fresnan favorite, the Fay Wrays, sorta randomly released a new song for us all called "Cars". It's sorta awesome. We like it. It's got this cool simple thing going but it manages to still feel important, like it's deeper than we realize… or something. We're not good at "giving reviews" just listen please (it's a free download, by the way):

Actually "Cars" isn't totally random. Fay Wrays are going to put a new vinyl release out in the somewhat near future and this will be on it. We'll keep an ear out for it.

New Music Tuesday: Fields Of Prey “Perfect Dark”

Fields Of Prey

You probably remember singer Alley Her from the rock band, 12 Gauge Serenade. No? You should have, jerkass. Well it doesn't matter now because Alley is in a new band called Fields Of Prey and they just may be better. One listen to their new EP "Perfect Dark" almost has us convinced. A second may get us to completely buy in:

The Fresnan Presents: Dorktown Podcast Episode #106 – Dork Blues

DorktownEpisode106

Welcome to you, Fresnan reader. It's time again for another Dorktown Podcast. Bells, Producer Becky and Mikey hang out, drink, cuss, talk about Fresno and what's going on in their tiny world. Here is a sample of what you'll… hear:

  • Why would anybody leave Fresno for beer?
  • Inspired by Mike Oz's column, Dorktown tries to figure out if its a good Fresnan.
  • Manchester Steakhouse is your home now.
  • MUSIC BREAK: Motel Drive "Drifter Blues"
  • There's another podcast to deal with.
  • A drunk call from Phoenix must be dealt with.
  • Trent & Mikey get nerdy with some Greedo talk.
  • FONZY EYYS!

New Music Tuesday: The Normandys “Dave’s Balls Are The New Coke”

250394_239577889398220_230421313647211_788575_4747406_n

This Tuesday brings us some pop-punk stuff from a new band that features dudes that were/are in a lot of other Fresno groups. Such as: The Giddy-Ups, The Sci-Fi Nightmares, The Midnight Howlers, The Little Triggers, Victimless Crime and many more.

The new bad is called The Normandys and they are working on a full length EP (if you can call a EP full-lengthed), but they released a song off it a little early called "Dave's Balls Are The New Coke" – We all knew this to be true, glad someone finally said it in song:
